Mt. Fagan Ward Temple and Family History Plan
The church handbook highlights 3 areas to concentrate on for temple and family history work. Our ward temple and family history plan focuses on these three areas. They are:
1. Supporting members as they make covenants and receive their own temple ordinances
2. Supporting the discovery of deceased ancestors
3. Encouraging regular temple worship
1. Supporting members as they make covenants and receive their own temple ordinances
- Members of the temple and family history committee will organize and teach temple and family history courses. The ward council will recommend ward members for these classes approximately 3 times per year, including a summer session for High School graduates.
- New and returning members will be supported in reaching objectives described in the “My Covenant Path” manual, including receiving and using a limited-use recommend and helping ancestors receive sacred ordinances.
- The primary will be including topics about temple and family history for a year leading up to the transition to the youth groups
2. Supporting the discovery of deceased ancestors
- Family History consultants will continue to offer one-on-one family history support as needed
- Youth family history consultants will be called and trained in each youth quorum and classes to support family history work in their groups
- Primary activity day leaders are encouraged to incorporate family history activities and projects into their plans twice per year
3. Encouraging regular temple worship
- Quorum and class presidencies will be encouraged to plan temple trips (for example, as part of regular youth activities)
- Two ward temple days will be designated each year – once in the spring and once in the fall
- The ward council will support targeted individuals who are going to the temple for the first time, or are returning to regular temple attendance. An example would be carpooling with the individual.
