Curriculum
This is intended to be a learn at your own pace set of activities. Rather than have a crash course where you may or may not retain important principles, we are providing a checklist of important skills that you can mark off as you go. There are three columns to mark continuing progress - don't rush it and make sure you have really learned these concepts.

Become a Qualified Instructor
We are fortunate within our stake to have church-purchased rappelling equipment available for our members, especially our youth, to utilize in their activities. However, the equipment is under-utilized and the number of qualified instructors in our ward and stake is decreasing.
Our ward is fortunate to have several qualified and certified instructors. These instructors are willing to share their skills with us. We are scheduling several Saturday mornings (1st Saturday of the 2nd and 3rd months of the quarter) where we will meet up at local cliffs, learn skills, and put them into practice as we set up and practice climbing and rappelling pitches. The first of these meetings will be on August 1st at Windy point on Mt. Lemmon. We will meet at the church to carpool up at 6:00 a.m., or you may drive straight there where we intend to begin at 7:00 a.m. You may bring your own equipment, but the stake equipment includes 15 youth and 10 adult harnesses that can be borrowed for this activity.
If you are interested and would like regular updates, please send your phone number to Nathan Powell, listed in LDS Tools in the Mt. Fagan Ward. Adults and youth in the oldest classes (turning 16 and up) may participate. Instruction dates are also being added to the ward calendar.
